Anyone tried the reconditioned MinnKota Terrovas?
No. The price is good but the warranty stinks.
Yes, I have a 65lb thrust AP that I bought several years ago and I've never had a problem. Not one day in the shop. Bought mine online from either Cabelas or that other place. 1 year warranty.
Not terrovas, but I bought a reconditioned Edge in 08. Had no major issues. I have replaced the brushes and will do the switch this weekend, but those are maintenance issues as far as I'm concerned.
Most of the time you are getting a better tested unit when you buy the reconditioned. Some of them were just missing parts from the box or had a minor issue and were returned. When they get back to the factory, one of the better trained people looks them over and determines what they need, rather than just a line worker cranking them through.
Sooner or later I'm gonna catch Catfan giving out bad info....then I'll pounce like a Lion. Until then.....
I'd trust a reconditioned Terrova in a heart beat.
Wannabe...
Thinking about stepping up to a 101. Might have an 80 for sale, soon.
CatFan is spot on this one. I'll say "MOST" manufactuers have the specialized crew that are trained more in depth than the people on the production line. I've bought several things over the internet that were reconditioned/refurbished. I've never had a problem with any of them. My latest buy was a Milwaukee 12" sliding double compound Miter saw with digital readout of the angles last fall. It retails for $750 and I bought it refurbed for $495. It blows away Dewalt and most other popular brands. I had been looking at the Hitachi in the same price range. I would prefer to have bought a Kapex, but didn't have the cash for the Top of the line Miter saw.
I might be wary of electronics reconditioned, I guess it would depend on what the warranty would be.
bought one from cabelas over a year ago, no problems and would buy again

Got one coming---hope it's OK.
