HB or Lowrance looking to buy a new fish finder
I'm looking to buy a new fish finder and need some advise on which one to buy. I've been looking at the DI HB and DI Lowrance models. I'm not sure which one is best and would like your advise. I fish brush piles the majority of the time in 10 to 30 feet of water. I've always had the older Eagle fish finders and have just been able to use them to locate the brush piles. I hear most people use the 2D most of the time and believe I might too. I've never been able to see my jig on the screen and would love to have that option. I don't have a GPS and need to consider that too. I'm not sure if I would be better off getting a hand held GPS or just spend more money and get a unit that has one. I'm sure some of you have had both and any advise would be greatly appreciated.
HB or Lowrance looking to buy a new fish finder
I looked and compared these units at Gander Mountain as they had displays set up and simulators working.
I've owned both Low and HB brands and either put out good products. I ended up buying the HB 597 ci hd di combo(with gps) and glad I did. This one has both 2d and Di where the lowrance does not in the Di unit. With the price half as much or more than the side-scan versions, it worked out for me just fine. By the way I bought mine from Amazon rather than Gander Mt. and saved over a $100. Still learning with it but so far, as my son says "It's the bomb" Hope this helps!
