bucktail keep the thread tight.... squirrel is like tying kiptail..
If you bind down to tight on buck-tail it will flair...
Use the hair farthest away from the base of the tail for the least flare. Also depends on where the deer was from. More northern deer have thicker hollow hair which holds heat better than southern deer. Also, tie in the tips not the whole length and then trim.
To make that whole process move along quicker i tried to use a hair stacker, BUT put the hair in upside down. It didn't work. lol. Definitely very time consuming. At least it is for me...Quote:

My Least favorite thing to tie is buck tail. You have to make your first wraps the are the farthest away from the head kind of loose to keep it from flaring and then get tighter as you move to the head. Squirrel, it's pretty easy to tie so shouldn't have a problem with that.
