Well I am boatless so I may have to give noodling a try. Trying to figure out how to hold my breath long enough to get my finger in their mouth in the middle of a 20 ft. deep brushpile.
Shallow timber and rip rap during the day. Also plan on a few more night trips this Summer. I have a technique that I'm dying to try that a certain someone told me about. I hafta see if it will work ;)
Fishing chunk rock ledges til that plays out then fishing Gibson for black species which get right back into the spawning rock piles and shallow brush just as they did during the spawn..
My plan-- Go as often as possible!! My method--- Standing timber in some deeper water,(12'+) using mainly minnows but working on learning to use jigs more effectivly.
Going out early mornings fishing with minnows and start fishing about 10 - 12 foot deep, but keeping a close eye on my depth finder. If nothing shows up in that range then I'm moving deeper.
I have been catching decent numbers at Hefner slip corking a minnow about 10' in 20 fow as well as bouncing a jig between 8-12 feet.
Still longlining down here in Ga. an doing quite well. Our water temps begins at daylight at 87 degrees now and am catching fish 4' deep on jigs in 6'-8' of water. The fish are pulling back into deeper water @ 12' deep during the heat of the day but are still biting jigs running about 7' deep. Last summer I longlined all summer. If it holds up that's my plans again this summer, if not I'll spider rig and bottom bounce jigs and minnows on a flat where I know the fish are hanging near the bottom in 18' of water.;):)
Thanks everyone for your feedback, appreciate it.Thumbs Up
Plan remains the same year round for me. Launch boat, catch fish, clean fish, eat fish.
