Does anyone here use a true rotary vise? I have a dan vise, that I got real cheep that works just a little bulky in the jaw section. It really speeds up the process if you are adding crystal flash on the sides...also lets me see if I'm centered, alined and even with my craft hair.How do you like yours and what brand is it? Has the vise made your life simpler? Just asking
I use a PEAK but if I was to buy a new vise it would be a ANVIL APEX and yes a rotary vise does make tying simpler

True in line rotary... Nor-Vise if your wanting to spend a few hundred or Roto-Vise for much cheaper. I own both, one for production and saltWater patterns (nor) and one for travel (Roto). Check out the vise and tool forum on the top of the page and you will find some info on the Roto-vise. Happy tying bro
Skip, thanks for posting,( some really good info) good to see that my vise is in there! the jaws on mine has and adjustment...to which I keep mine positioned all the way out. I tie a lot of drop shot flies on a #6 Teimco streamer fly hook. The bulky-ness of the jaws some what interfears with how the material lays out, so I have to use my imagination if the fly is keeping with a natural looking flow...no complaints but I really like the vise(anvil apex) just below the Dan vise...it has the right looking profile on the jaws.
That Peak vise is a top of the line rotary vise but over twice the price of the Danica Dan Vise. I also just bought a Dan Vise it seems to be plenty good for my personal use, I am not going to be tying 100 per day, maybe a dozen per week.
I've handles a bunch of different vises, and lots of them are good enough to use until you go to larger hooks or tie a whole lot. The peak, atlas, and renzetti are all good and in about the same price range. But do yourself a favor and hold off until you get to handle and maybe tie on different vises. There's lots to choose from and what doesn't matter to me might be an issue for you. Take your time, and happy addiction.
+1 on the Peak. I use it for crappie jigs as well as larger salt water type stuff (up to 7/0 hooks).

If I were you I think I would stick with it for some time, at least until I used it a lot more unless it keep you from tying what you want to tie there is not need for another one.
