Hummingbird 570 DI

I'm looking to purchase a fish finder under $400 without GPS. I crappie fish only, mostly in shallow lakes and occasionally at the reservoir in Jackson Ms. After a lot of research I have decided the hummingbird 570 DI would be a good choice, but would like some input from others. Any suggestions??

i have the 597ci hd/di. im more than pleased with unit.should be close to the same thing your looking at.if you mount on trolling motor you might get rf noise.if you do give me a haller i think that i can help. i really think that you will be please with it. good luck

I am also interested in the HB 570 DI. I mainly fish in shallow waters less than 10 feet. Does it work well at this depth? I have also noticed it does a good job on the structure imaging, but what about fish? Thanks for the input.

my 597 works well in shallow water after i change setting in surface clutter menu

How do you have your 597 set up as far as settings go? I recently bought a new boat and had the 570 di installed at the bow/TM. I have been jig fishing heavy cover up against the bank since Ive had the boat so I've really only used it for depth/temp so far. I know it will need some tweaking when I start trolling. Would like have an idea where to start. I fish Reelfoot 90% of the time so the shallow water part definitely applies to me too.

i use the outboard battery,run a ground wire to skeg on trolling motor also i jumped the ground to foot pedal of trolling motor.this ground ties to a common ground in the boat. try your unit in shallow water,if you have problems with the digital readout go to main menu/sonar/surface clutter.once there start increasing the number until the readout reads right.pritty easy really,all the rest is choose the view that you like best and set the sensitivity to your liking.good luck

570 DI is in a class of its own, for the price range. Mine took a little tweaking, 2 or 3 trips to get everything right, but could not be more pleased with the unit.
