#1 How many of you guys spider rig rivers? Not oxbows but main river channels. I will explain later....#2 Any of yall have a good idea or can just explain a good boat dock live well that will keep fish alive as long as possible. No more than 2 to 4 days. Is that even legal? I have a boat dock on the river that i can attach to etc,.. decent current travels thru it if that helps anyone. And yes these fish will all be crappie and/or what i call kentucky bass.
what me and my partner did (mostly my partner) was take the tub out of an old washing machine, take the liner out and what is left is a metal tub with many pencil sized holes...about two or three feel tall and two foot across...can hang it from a dock with a few big rocks in it to keep it level...or several big rocks to hold it to the bottom...finally had to put a lid on it to keep the varmits and critters out of it...as you know always keep it tied to something solid...with current it will keep fish and bait alive a long time...also with no lid those ninja fish will jump out of it...of course not speaking from personnel experience..

never spider rigged the main channel... And i agree with yellowjacket, blue 50 gallon drum with holes screwed in the sides always work
Washing machine drum will work ok except in the middle of the summer and there isnt enough depth to let fish get to cooler water. Atleast that was the problem we had. The blue drums work well and will let you get more depth so the fish can get have cooler water. Do yourself a favor though and mount it with a boat winch, you do not want to try to pull that thing up otherwise. You can build one with a basic square frame and wrap it with hardware cloth too and they wrok well.
yellow jacket im speaking of the black river. Guys thanks for the help. On the spider rigging thing. I not talking about the actual main channel but the back outs and corner inlets etc,.. where my structure is. Most all of it is just a few feet outside the main current and in eddys. I had success getting rigged up with spider rig and ease into to those areas, but i have learned to limit my poles to 3 so far. I was just wondering how many of you guys out there do it. It can be hard at times but fruitful also...
On the dock topic..... I saw a dock one time that had a hole cut in the middle of it. It had a hinged lid with a handle. Under the lid was a 2x4 frame wrapped in chicken wire. All you had to do was lift the lid and dip the fish out with a net.
