I picked up a 5' ultra light Ugly Stik and an Okuma AV20a spinning reel to go with it. I plan to use 4lb. test line on it. That is right in the middle of recommended line weights for that rod.
This is gonna be my panfishing outfit. I thoroughly enjoy going after all species of them, so I decided to get an outfit just for them.
I have a 6'6" medium action Ugly Stik, and an Okuma AV30a reel on it, but it doesn't throw the lighter panfish lures properly. It's a good all around combo, though.
Friday is supposed to be wet, cold, and windy. Saturday should be decent, though. That's good because I promised to take my daughter fishing Saturday.(After breakfast at Village Inn, of course!;))
Just an FYI for any new fisherpeople on this board: always select your line weight based on the recommendation of the rod manufacturer, not according to what you think the reel can hold. Reason being, you want the line to break before the rod does.
