I just baked some jigs for the first time. My problem is that it changed some of the colors. My blaze orange which was a bright flourscent orange now looks more like burnt orange and two of them actually turned brown. The sapphire blue darkened more and now it does not sparkle like before I baked. I am assuming that maybe I need to lower the heat or bake for 15 minutes instead of 20. I baked these at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. I need to know what to do to solve this problem.
lower heat and lower time and watch them as u bake them if u can
I talked to Crazy Angler today and ordered some powder paint to try for the first time. He told me if I wanted to bake/cure them to put in the oven at 275 deg for 15 to 20 min. Let me know if the time/temps work better
I actually bought my paint from crazy angler but was not sure what brand it was. I had a jar of red power-tec paint that had instructions on it and this is what I used. It may also be that my toaster oven is burning hotter that 350. So are you saying that it was probably to hot and to long and this caused the discoloring? I will try the suggestion and let you know how it turns out.
Karla try getting a thermometer in the oven... Also make sure your jigs are not to close to your heating elements. If they are the heat around them will be much higher.

Yeah toaster ovens can differ from the box temperature greatly!... Definitely put an accurate temperature gauge... You can install one of the more expensive oven ones with the long metal spike.
I have spoke with the people at CSI (Pro-Tec) many times about the curing. I was still using just over 390 for 16 minutes and finally bought a oven thermometer and it was not getting as hot as I though. I was having trouble with the FL Red for example and they told me if I would use the 400 for 10 minutes the chemical reaction would happen and it would be hard as a rock then. So I have started back using my big oven since I still need to figure out if my toaster oven will work right at all. It cuts off too long and temp falls too far so don't think this is my best bet.
I was only finding that I had trouble when I had to tie some hair jigs and some times when I tie hair there is some sticking out more than I want at the head so I use the razor blade to trim it before I finish my wraps and it was actually making the paint chip a tiny bit. I tried doing these I have now with thee 400F and that has stopped happening.
If you look at the time and temps I posted in the sticky it should help, but the temps posted there are not have to be just close or go longer at lower temps for best results. I figure the people that make the paint know more than any others. Also the longer you have them in the oven the darker they will end up and lose some of that brightness your wanting back.
So the faster at the best temps will help exactly what your wanting to do. However you will need to get an over thermometer to know for sure what your oven is doing. I also found out if I just use Bake it's lower temps than if I use the Convection Bake and it made a huge difference in the actual temp.
