Wappapello Lake temporary rock berm that was built to raise the effective elevation of the spillway has been topped in about a 25' section of it. KFVS said that the increase in water flow into the St. Francis river could cause a steady rise in levels, but would not cause a wall of water. Just a heads-up to my fellow sportsmen to the south. My wife's co-workers in the Powe area were evacuated last night/this morning.
tall, do they have the gates wide open too? down where you went duck hunting i hear there's about 6 or 8 foot of levy left. i wonder how much more it will come up.
I went last Wed. to scout the St Francis water way and barrow pits outside Marked tree and found some good water. Went back Sun. and the water was op 6-8" from Wed.
I don't old, it may get a lot worse before it gets better. I am not sure about the discharge. Seems to me they were putting out like 23,000 cfs but if I remember right, I thought I read somewhere where they were capable of putting out around 125,000 cfs. I would imagine, if they weren't at full output, they are trying to hold enough to save the bottoms/levees down there.
Look on the MO page and see where "T" hwy. USED to be. May be more water coming than I thought.
old, I looked up the specs on the dam/spillway. The max output of the gates is 18,000. I suppose the 23,000 i saw was counting what's coming over the spillway added on to it. The max gate and spillway output at an ungodly 414 lake elevation is 227,000. I don't know how they can figure the lake would get that high, with the spilllway in operation.
