I understand how everything needs wired. Just wondering what gauge wire I need to run and what size breaker to put in line. Will be a 70- 80 lbs minnkota. Most likely a terrova with I pilot. Want to go ahead and get things ready to wire. Thanks

6 gauge wire and 50 amp breaker will do it.
I went to a 24 volt and on my tracker and tracker ran 10 gauge wire. The minkota I have is a max 70 lb thrust and it calls for 6 gauge wire. I have the wire but I have not ran it yet, once I go above 70% the motor will kick off because of the 10 gauge wire that is hooked up to my batteries and fused with a 50 amp breaker. If I turn it up to 90% or a 100% it can run for around a minute and the motor will kick off and I take my foot off of the power and wait about 5 to 10 seconds and hit the power and back on it is. If you have every thing apart I would run the 6 gauge wire your unit calls for.
That's what I installed when I switched, 6 ga and a 50 amp.
Does it have to be marine grade wire?? If it does wheres the best place to buy it. Probably not any place local that sales it. Thanks
I have 6 gauge stranded under ground wire that I am going to use. Check Cabelas the last time I looked they had copper tinned wire in various sizes on sale.
I installed a 24 volt 80# terrova on my boat last winter. I bought the wire and connectors from Genuinedealz.com. The #6 wire was a little over a dollar a foot and they had free shipping. They will also make up your cables for you for a additional charge.
Exactly where in the system does the 50-amp breaker go???
As close to the batteries as you can get.
