Do you use the foot pedal on the terrova????

I am looking at buying a new tm. Looking at the terrova and the powerdrive v2. I fish for bass and crappie most of the time. My question is how much will I miss the foot control if I go with the powerdrive v2??? Not sure if I will like just the remote, but it is a cool feature. Really want to get the i pilot also. To many choices. Also looking at going to 24volt for better battery life and extended fishing trips. Does the digital maximizer make much difference??? Old tm is 12 volt 55lb thrust and on windy day will eat a battery in half a day.

I have a Terrova with I-pilot and for my style of fishing it works great. I mainly slow troll spider rigging, or pull jigs and crankbaits. A few times a year I'll cast for hybrids and bass and this is the only time I use my foot pedal. You can't really use the remote, cast and retrieve a lure at the same time. And yes, I have noticed my battery life lasting much longer with the digital maximizer. I've pulled jigs and cranks several long days on the water and still had juice left.

Yep.....When I am spider rigging and have my partner up front with me.....he uses the foot pedal when I am busy catching a fish. I keep the remote around my neck and when I am not catching I keep the boat on course. The foot pedal is handy to have on the boat if the battery in your remote goes out on you while fishing. I have the 80 lb. thrust 24 volt Terrova with US-2 and I-Pilot. I am using two super heavy duty group 31 trolling batteries and they are holding up fine.

I have never had my foot control hooked up. I don't know if it works or not. Same rig as "G" 's

If you do mostly bass fishing or casting around cover and docks, you wont like the terova. I have both terova and maxxum and they are entirely different animals. They both have there place. The terova is for trolling. The foot control sucks !!!!!!!

I fish for crappie,bass,hybrids and catfish........go ahead and spend the extra for the terrova with i pilot.......i use my pedal about 60% of the time.Remote is great for trolling

I agree with the others that posted that the remote is great for trolling but is a pain for bass fishing. I have a 80# terrova with autopilot and copilot.

I mainly bass and single pole crappie fish.....I have a foot pedal model MG......I talked to a MK rep at a trade show and he said most bass fishermen prefer the foot pedal as the others do not change directions as fast.....my next one will be a MK Fortrex.....

I really like the idea of the i pilot. But I know I wouldn't be satisfied without a foot control to go along with it. I have read where some are not happy with the terrova foot control. My current tm is a hand control so I don't think the pedal would be as big an issue for me as it is for some. Also not real sure about picking it up from the head of the unit . Looks like it should have a rope with it. Just not sure the terrova is worth the extra money compared to a edge or a maxxum. Thanks for all the input so far. Gotta make a decision soon.

I have a terrova 80#. Today, I used the foot control. My brother in law was visiting. Doesn't fish much. I took him out pushing corks. Everytime he baited a hook, landed a fish, adjusted a jig, he jammed the butt of my rods into the toe of my foot control. The first time that TM started spinning right, I thought it had lost its mind!

During normal fishing with me and my boy Lit'lest Sty, I've found myself with both hands full. I've since started forcing myself to use the foot control to better prepare for those type situations. They do pop up and it helps not to run into brush while juggling a couple of fish or worse... a couple of hang ups!
