Looking to do some serious light lure fishing on mono and braid lines. Interested in long 8-12 ft. spinning set up for crappie cast hand fishing. KNOW some of the team has some experience and quality products to try and the cheapest place to purchase rod and reels. Thanks for the much needed help.
8-12 ft seems a little long for casting, if you're going to be vertical jijjing, then 12-14 ft would be good. Bass Pro and Academy both have some reasonable combo's, I personally like the trigger-spins.
well it depends on how much money you are willing to spend i have a 8 foot bnm with a ultra light spinning reel and it is a blast to hook a 2 pound crappie on! i thing with the reel i have about 65 bucks in it! lakeway has jig poles for jiggin and casting 8 foot all the way to 16 foot! the dont have the reels though! they stock tony edgar and bnm
I have a couple 9' 6" BPS microlite float n fly rods that I use for casting float and jigs, paired with a Pflueger president. Works really well.
12' rods are a bear to cast with. I know. Just spent 3 straight months doing it 4 days a week, 30 minutes at a clip. 8' would be much better for accuracy. The new BnM Gold with the spinning guides look like they'd be the ticket...I like Pflueger reels too, but ain't rich like Feelay, so I'd step down a series or two...with the Trion being about as much as I'm willing to spend on one.
Ricky at thecrappiehotspot.com can hook you up with a set up and has the BnM Golds in stock...then there's the traditional big box stores too.

I have been at this game a little while, but in no way claim to be an expert. After a lot of trial and error, and money, what I have found best for my applications is as follows.
single pole jigging-- 11' BnM Sam Heaton Super Sensitive.
casting jigs---7' BnM Sam Heaton Super Sensitive.
brush and float (minnow) fishing 11' BnM Brush Cutter.
float and fly (jig)-- 7'9" BnM Float and Fly.
spider rigging-- 14' BnM Capps and Coleman.
All my rods are equipped with Shimano Sedona FD-500 spinning reels with the exception of my C&C's and they are equipped with regular casting reels with thumb bar release.
I am sure this combination won't be acceptable to everyone, nor should it be. It is just what happens to work best for me.
