Off topic Raining hard NO fishing today

Raining hard this morning thought I would tell a story . Buddy ate my ball (tennis ball that is) after freezer is restocked I release a lot of crappie while fishing I would weigh it if it looked interesting but usually just return over the years people would see me release these fish and just had to comment I would reach down get the ball and say this is what I use for go nogo gauge if I can not drop this ball in their mouth they do not go in the cooler yesterday buddy ate it I guess the fishing just was not interesting enough for him. You see I do have a sense of humor just different. Seriousy can you judge the weight of a crappie I am not accurate if the berkley digitals are then I am often very wrong when people tell me estimates of weight of their fish I just have to ask did you weigh it most of the time I will get this answer I know what a 2lb crappie looks like I would like to think I do to but very often I am very wrong maybe I just do not get to see enough hence the screen name Noslab .2lb crappie (a slab) 2lb +( big slab) 3lb (monster slab) have not seen many.

Biggest we've caught this year has been two around 14 inches long a piece and neither one of them weighed 2 lbs for us a 14 incher is a big crappie so a 2 lb crappie is huge and I can't imagine a 3. We have got to wear we measure a lot of our fish just for enjoyment. One of those two came from Conway the other from greers. People think they caught a 2 lber but many are not.

I see lots of folks talking trash about slabs being on the lake about everyday. Amazing at the 12 to 14'' keepers that folks catch and think they are 2 or 3 lb slabs.:rolleyes: Some are really embbaressed when I pull out the scales.;) I see lots of limits at the cleaning station with few over 9 ''. Guess when they catch a 12 to 14'' Crappie it looks big to them. I was cleaning fish one day and a man was talking about catching 7 slabs about 3 lbs each. I seldom see an honest 3 lber a year on this lake.:rolleyes:Rofl Maybe I need to borrow their scales to weigh my fish.:D

I always hear of 2lb crappie and 4lb bass being caught, in areas that don't usually produce that big. I think they would be very surprised if they were weighed. I try to weigh all of my bigger ones so I don't pass on bad information and get called out on it.

there are 2 things about fishing that are almost always true. 1 is that a scale will make a fish lose weight and 2 is a GPS unit will make a boat slow down.

You would be surprised at how many "85 MPH" boats I have passed while my GPS read 75. and they all thought I was running over 100

I have been thinking about this all year.. I really need to get me a set of digital scales.. Before I started fishing so much, i used to carelessly throw around "two pounder", but when i started fishing at least two or three times a week and catching a lot more fish I started realizing that most of those fish I caught when i wasn't fishing as often were not even close to being "two pounders".. That is why i just say "good one" or "slab-daddy".. I try not to give out bad information like you said Krappie KG so that $20 investment might be my best bet..
