For Skip and Revtoby
Here is a Idea that may save time and some server space and you guys having to sort threw a bunch of post. Why not have a new sticky with all the places that supplies material, tools, And supplies. You could have a list with the web links that would be a click away.
This has been a reoccurring theam at least once a month. WE all chime in with our favorites. This way the new tyier could visit and wouldn't have to ask where do I bye this or that. We have stickys for what material to get and how to tie and what tools to get but not any on material suppliers. I think its about time. Leave it open for a week so that members would be able to rate there favorites or add comments on who has the best what. Even rate the suppliers.
Like I said this is just a Idea to make this site better. I could even help with this project if you so desire. It is up to you two.
All the Best

Actually I would feel comfortable doing that unless Slab gives the OK. I mean every other business on here that has links to them in a major way like a sticky pays for the right to have their name and link here. I mean it's touchy and I think its' is a lot like I have several guides that are in what they call my Pro Staff and I can not have their names and links to their web site in my Sig. So not sure Slab would be in favor or a permanent sticky thread with business links.
I know there are links in some of the sticky post, but they are more educational and not for sales.

Ok Skip total understand. Then how about without the links. I know that many add links when answering this question know that I most generally do. I guess were I am coming from is the fact that new tiers are always asking the same questions and we all give the same answers. I crops up way to often so much as I am starting to ignore these post. Guess that they haven't figured out how to use the search button yet. Like I said just a Idea and a suggestion to save time and server space.
Keep up the good work and keep us in line.
All the best my friend

I think it's a good idea, but let me run it by Slab to see if we can put links to all of them.

Would be helpful to have a listing (sticky) of those sponsoring businesses (already on-board), that could supply the material and tooling needs of those reading or participating on the "Jig Tying/Jig Making Forum".
Not all of the "Businesses" listed in the section dedicated to referencing them, denote whether they provide materials, or just finished product. If they have materials, would it not benefit both buyer and seller? Perhaps the desire to be included on the listing for their targeted market would entice others to become a Crappie.com sponsoring business as well.
Skip, I have seen you offer to find or sell components, or materials, for someone in need, which is great. But if I had not read your responses when you were trying to help others out, or was new to the forum, I might not know that Thumpitjigs.com, did anything except sell ready to fish jigs.
The Crappie.com Business Directory does not specifically list any business providing tooling or materials. I think it would be helpful to be aware of those. Anyone can go outside of those sponsoring businesses for supplies, but I for one, always try to support those whom also support Crappie.com.
Not sure if this makes sense, as I've been up for about 30 hours working on another project, and came on here just to clear some cobwebs...

Well only ready to fish jigs is what I do and when I offer to help someone to get some materials for less, it's not the same thing at all and I don't do that very often and have pretty much just quit that practice unless someone actually ask me in a PM or something like that. I don't try a profit from materials or tools other than the vise I sell and usually it's someone that wants at least one skein of chenille or two if I don't need any of that color and then I just get it fro them when I order.
So it's really different and some of the better material stores are not crappie.com members and probably never will since they are dedicated to fly fishing.
Slab will reply and tell me what is acceptable, but I wouldn't limit it to stores that are members here or I wouldn't be involved. Too many good things come from people not members here.
I don't wish for this to be an open ballet or discussion. Also if you limit it to business that are only ones that not only are just members, but also sponsor this site which is clearly more important and some here selling items are not sponsors here.
So please just wait and see what I find out and lets stop this thread posting before I need to freeze it.
