Oldies but goodies

These are about a year old, but I am new to the site and thought I would share. I have just begun to start fishing this year, so I will hopefully have more pics soon! These are some bluegill I caught while in school at Auburn. This is how I began my fly fishing quest, on bluegill in ponds. I have attached one picture of my biggest to date. I would welcome any size/weight estimates as I didn't take any measurements. Also my biggest shellcracker again with no measurements, feel free to make some guesses. And finally my first crappie on fly (about a week ago)!

I agree, unfortunately I knew very little about fly fishing when I bought my first outfit. So I learned on a 9wt, which was kind of cumbersome in retrospect now that I have a 5wt. Although it was necessary as I hooked a few carp in the ponds that almost spooled me! Now I am trying to really "start over" with the 5wt. I'm not exclusively a fly fisherman, but I like to be proficient with any fishing method.....

Yes will agree that it is one of the best ways to learn to use a fly rod. Been fly fishing since I was 10 YO and the fish is the Bream or Blue Gill. Don't use it much any more because of shoulder problems. But it gets a work out a few days a year. Now it isn't that I don't want to but that it sometimes hurts this old geezer. But there is nothing more fun than catching bream on a fly rod.

May you have many years of enjoyment with your fly rod and catch baskets of bream and white perch ( Crappies ).
