First thread, Full Moon
Howdy to all, first I must confess that I am a "lurker"...I lurk around many fishing forums...not saying much, but constantly looking...Been a member of C.c about a year and posted one comment...I've fished 50 years and because I am a teeny bit ob/com I tend to go thru fishing phases, like bream, bass, catfish, crappie, trout and walleye...But crappie fishing has always drawn me away from the other phases...anyhow I have some crappie fishing mysteries (for me)...one right now is "why can't I successfully catch crappie during the full moon (2 days before and 2 days after...tried everything except dynamite or a hand crank phone...over the years learned to just not go...I must be overlooking something, can anybody give me some advice on how to crappie fish during the full moon cycle...sorry about the length of the thread...thanks

The last two years I have studied the ESPN Astro chart. There is something to it... Most of the good days according to it.. Is around the full moon. When it says it's a excellent day I would usually catch alot. Some days I would not. So I thought if it says excellent and I didn't catch fish all day.... Maybe they bite at night... BINGO! one of them same days no luck during the day we slaughtered em that night.
I look forward to the full moon, I catch fish most any time but the full moon it's on! Maybe day maybe night have not studied enough yet to figure that one out.
I fish when I can, and I mean when... If I have any extra time I'm on the lake. But if I was planning a trip in the future I would try to use the Astro chart in my favor.
To answer your question if your fishing all day during the full moon and not catching fish...I bet you would tear em up that night. Some times we catch em in the day some times at night, but we catch em.
And I don't think it has anything to do with the light of the moon, do just as good when pitch black sometimes.

It has been my experience that the lunar tables are pretty accurate for most types of hunting and fishing. I dont normally plan around them but I do monitor them so I know when the major and minor times are. I hunt and fish when I can but the more I track the lunar tables against my results, the more confidence I have in them as a general guideline.

I added this Arkansas Game and Fish Forecast - Fish and Game Forecast, Charts and Graphs to my home page. There is a luner calendar and other features here that can be helpful.

I allways look at the tables and will be in certain areas at the prime times the rest of the time I am fishing sometimes catching but prime times call for the prime spots.Majority of times the tables will key you to the major bite but not allways.

I have a peak hunt/fish time feature on my hand held gps. Strangely, it's pretty accurate. I am going to fish or hunt when ever I can inspite of moon phase or GPS info.

Thanks for the info...I think you all hit the nail on the head...I have never used or had confidence in the astro graphs, but now I will use them...having lurked around c.c for a while, I know you guys would not say it if you didn't mean it...thanks again...that game and fish page will especially keep me busy for a while...

I use this one,I like looking at it as to give me a ideal as to what I need to do to catch a miss.If it is slow I know what lures to use and the same if is a best day.

They bite at night. You can catch brim on the bed 2 days before and after full moon
