Yes they been saying Nimrod had high levels of Mercury for years. Well the statement was to avoid or limit to two meals a month of bigger predator fish mainly larger Bass. Well maybe that is why I shine at night . Local retired warden here has eaten big Catfish and Bass for many years. Has not killed him but he looks about worn out, and only in his 80's. Rather eat the fish here than a place like Conway or Arkansas River where the water is contaminated with who knows what. I have eaten tons of fish from Nimrod lake in the last 40+ years and the main side effect I've noticed is my hair turning gray.Rofl

If you look at the us water shed the Arkansas river is actually some of the cleanest water around...
The mercury is naturally occurring and has always been there, they just got to where they can measure the minute amounts in the last few years. Been eating fish all my life, the mercury must be addictive cause it makes me want to get more.
They say not to worry unless eating alot of big predator fish such as Bass. Cautions mostly for small children with developing brains and pregnant women. Guess most of us don't fit either one of those.

Steve, that's a great idea. I don't think he can eat all them crappie he catches. I'm just worried about his health, you know.
Heck yeah it is. Expecially above Little Rock. 10 or so years ago, if you put your fillets in some water there would be an oily film on top of the water. It's not like that anymore. The cleanest, best tasting catfish in the state comes from between Morrilton and Conway on the Ark River.
