I know this is off topic, but I will be near Nashville near the end of April, just north west, and wondering if anybody around that area ever finds any flint. Not looking for arrowheads, but actual cobbles and nodules of unworked flint (chert). If so, do you know of anywhere a fella could pick some up?

Fake? No they're real....they just wont be thousands of years old :D...I'm into primitive archery and been trying my hand at flint knapping. Going to be hunting with stone this fall rather than steel.
Edges of the Nashville basin are loaded with the chert. I assume you can find flint in the same area.

Chert is what I'm looking for. I know it's out there, just trying to find somebody that will let me stroll their creeks/fields looking to pick up rocks is the hard part. One would think that farmers would like to you to get rock off their property, but ya never know.
Around here, it would prob be easier just to pick up thousands of year old arrowheads, rather than find large chunks of flint and knapp them yourself

Anywhere from the size of a baseball on up. I think most of the chert (flint, the US doesnt have TRUE flint, but we still call it that) in TN is found in stream beds, where it has eroded out of limestone, or in road cuts where it has been exposed. Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it, but if he could find any, Id be happy to pay for a flat rate box full.
I'll keep my eyes open, but pieces that large are hard to come by.
