Look at this study done my Fly Fish Ohio which studies most vises that were made as of a couple years ago so any really new brands to the market since then is probably not in here. I have not looked at it all though so can't say much about that.

CDC may need it's own forum for discussing vices... We are mostly jig tiers and not fly tiers. I say let's write reviews... Pros and cons on vices we have tied on... No arguments from dealers just plain old facts. Maybe each thread can be closed so no comments can be put. How bout it...we shouldn't need to go to other forums for simple information.
There is so much info out there and not just on a vise that putting all that on this forum is not reasonable. Discussions of vises can be done here with no problem as long as guys are not quoting prices from a member including me trying to sell one. Just talking about all the vises is good and I encourage that, but asking a member to tell you about the vise he sells is just going about it wrong or from the wrong direction. I don't have any issue with talking about any tool or product that is available. It's wrong for me to give a bunch of info on something I sell unless it's in a PM and the same goes for others. It has nothing to do with the discussion it has to do with the better way to ask a question from a seller of a product. Asking a member about a vise or anything he sells should be done with a PM and not in a post. It's as simple as that.
Would you have us develop all the patterns possible here on this forum? No of course not so we link fly tying sites and others to get the info. I mean you could go on forever with all the tools and patterns possible and it's just best to link into places that have done studies which are not slanted by someone that benefits from that info. Don't think we want to go get all the vises out there and study them, try them and then repots what our finding are. It just doesn't make sense to do all that so it can be contained here on this board.
You guys think I am against someone other than me putting info on here and that is not true, it just needs to be done the right way. Actually if someone wants to put the info on their product on CDC then there is the classified board just for that and they can say all they want about their product with prices and all. I just know when someone starts asking a member about a product sooner or later someone is going to ask for a price so all I try to do is head that off because that then would be them breaking the rules of advertising on this site. It's pretty clear to me that you guys just don't understand the intent of what I do and it has nothing to do with me selling anything, it has to do with trying to find a way to keep post within the rules and that is it as simple as that sounds, that's it.
If you guys would take off your blinders and just try to understand why some things are done then we wouldn't be having all this friction. I am not against anyone selling their products and would help them if the chance came up, but it has not. There is a fine line between talking about some vise and turning that into an ad.
I am not against any of you or what you do. I have no interest in pushing people out of the way so I can step in a sell something. I really don't care if I ever sell a vise and I am sure you don't believe that, but I can't make you know if I am telling the truth or not, but the truth to me is very important and I don't believe in telling lies. It's something put into me by my dad so maybe if you step back you could see my real intent or at least understand why I do what I do.
I do try to educate new tiers here and do the best I can to help them with anything I can. On a vise, I only have experience with 4 so I can tell what I know about them if someone wants to know, however it's not so I can sell them one. I usually tell them what I tie on and it's not one I sell, but it's my favorite vise of all so how can you account for that if in fact I am only interested in selling what I sell? I don't care, really!
