Well, looks like we're headin down south in the next few weeks. Was thinking about the lakes scattered across White River NWR, somebody help a brother out with some info?
e.g. What's the River stage need to be, which lakes are hard to access, which lakes ain't?
Try moon lake just north of St. Charles. There are some good crappie in there and a good ramp
maybe someone will be along later and put you on goodluck
I fish Beaver. Great Crappie lake! Lot's of easy access launches across the lake. Prairie Creek and south are best fishing.
I fish maddox bay. There are several lakes you could boat to when the water is right. Tons of good crappie. There is a bait shop and some cabins that we usually stay in that are very reasonable, Nothing fancy, mainly a place to lay your head and cook a hot meal and take a shower.
My dad and I have went to Maddox many times. We fish 3-4 lakes off in the woods primarily that we can motor to from the cabins mentioned in this thread. I want to say fishing is best when gauge at Clarendon is 19-21 ft. I have been when I could motor straight into the lakes; I have been when the bay itself was 10ft low and we had to carry a jon boat for an hour to fish our favorite lake. When the lakes are land-locked in spring (rare it seems) you can get some incredible fishing. We have done ok though even when we could float or pull into the lakes.
I never knew we had so many of us on here that are familiar with Maddox Bay. If any of you guys are there ask Miss Janice if I am there or look for a maroon Nissan truck witn Alabama tags. I am almost always in the big cabin on the end. I would really to mmet you guys.
