HB waypoint question
30 years ago my job was replaced by a computer. 20 years ago I said I would never fax. 10 years ago I said I would never text and 5 years ago I said I would never send a email. 1 week ago I bought a HB 898 SI. The install went great. Used it on the water Sunday and if it picked up NASCAR I would never go home. Well here the question. I dont mind reading if I know were to go to find the info. I want to enter a list of waypoints from my Greers Ferry map on the HB PC program and download it to my HB 898. Or is there another way I need to do it. Thanks for the help. I will need more in the future.

If you have the coordinates from your map that you mention...
You can enter them manually into the HumminbirdPC program, download them to a SD card, and put the SD card into your unit and the unit will automatically read and save them.....OR
You can also enter the cordinates manually directly into the unit....but it takes a lot of button pushing...
I would suggest HBPC....

I have a few digits I think I know what to do with but want to make sure before I enter 100 waypoints. On my HB CP it has
N00degree00.000' W000degree00.00'
on map it has
N35degree31.60' W91Degree59.49 Do I put a 0 after the 60 on N and a 0 after 91 on W.
-
The only place you need to put a 0 is before the 91, not after.
-
what about the 0 on the 60 in the N reading?
-
If those are Lowrance waypoints Humminbird PC will convert them to HB waypoints for you.

Billy, I don't think you would have to put one or two zeros behind the .6 but you might have to for the unit to recognize it. I don't know for sure. I do know that the .6 is 6 tenths of a minute, which would be 36 seconds-either way. If I was you I would enter a few both ways and then take it out and check it before I entered a bunch in there. Or just go ahead and enter your zero, either way means the same, but I don't know how your unit will accept it. It may be looking for all the positions to be filled.

The unit and HumminbirdPC will automatically show the zero after the .6 minutes. Just make sure that you select the ddomm.mmm format under the Edit – Preferences – Position Format menu. This may be the default for the HummPC program though. Too bad that you do not have them electronically as usually they can be mass converted and brought into HummPC a whole lot faster than typing them in.
Any idea which Map Datum that Greens Ferry map is using? If it is not the WGS84 map datum than those waypoints could end up being off quite a bit.
