Help finding the right body of water

Hey everyone,

My wife wants to go somewhere for springbreak this year. Florida is out because we don't want to go that far. I was thinking about hooking up the boat and taking the family crappie fishing somewhere in KY. I live in the Dayton, OH area. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions about a good body of water in KY to catch some crappie without much knowledge of the lake. I am also concerned about high muddy water since we have had a lot of rain. Our springbreak is the last week of March, the 28th thru April 1st. Also, any lodging ideas would be welcomed too. Thanks!

Big Bear resort on Ky. lake is a good place to stay. The fishing is good in Big Bear creek and you don't have to travel very far in your boat. You can launch your boat right there in the creek and start fishing immediately. Other bays close to Big Bear are both Cambridge bays,Little Bear and Sledd. . There are plenty of places with cover in Big Bear creek that will hold fish.One thing you might want to watch is the water level. If you try to run the main lake, you will need to use caution unless the water is high. I feel like a person can catch fish there, even with little knowledge of crappie fishing or the area being fished. Another good resort is Moors resort. It is right there close to Big Bear. Tennessee has over 1 Million acres of lakes, and nearly 13 million acres of Forest.

If you go to TN try Lake Chickamauga, or some of the really scenic lakes in east TN like the 40,000 acre Lake Douglas, or the 39,000 acre Watts Bar Lake.

Or go to Lake Guntersville, in North East Alabama, it is a 70,000 acre Lake, I am going there the 1st week of April for some Bass fishing.
