We have over 350,000 acres of Public Lakes to fish.
Plus the entire north border of of KY is the Ohio River.
The entire Western Border of KY is the Mississippi River which is the largest River in North America.
We have over 1 Million acres of public land to hunt.
We have an Elk herd of over 10,000, and some of the Best Deer, and Turkey hunting in America here in Kentucky.
Most midwest states to the north of us, don't even have half the natural resources we have here in KY.
Yes I am very happy with what the state has to offer.

Moved here 2 years ago and can't stand the thought of heading home to visit. Love the bluegrass state.
Spent my whole life here except 6 years in Bloomington Indiana. That was like prison for me. Not because of the area but work. I never wet a line and the only hunting I did was back here at home with my dad. Man am I glad I am home!

And correct me if I am wrong but KY keeps investing in their resources. Didn't they buy some of the Kimball land that went up for sale a few years ago? I know IN has bought some land too recently but it kind of irked me that they didn't even consider the Kimball land sold in Southern IN. Seems they are only concerned with areas with close access to the middle of the state.

Does my heart good to see this post. I don't live in KY but have spent a lot of time there as I lived in a small border town in TN and KY got a lot of my money from shopping and visiting the lakes and parks. I have lived 21 years of my life out of the USA. A lot of days when I am fishing I hear people complain about how the Sauger have been eaten up by the Striper's or if you are a Bass fisherman how the Bass have been eaten up by the Stripers....can't catch Crappie like we did 50 years ago. Well I and a lot of others don't have those problems and it really upsets me people don't really see how good they have it here. Yeah we have our problems but having been to over 67 countires..I ain't found no place better. I fished the Red Sea and Persian Gulf and caught thousands of pound of Grouper...Snapper..and every other kind of fish imaginable. But all I wanted to do was get back home and catch some Bluegill and Crappie. I would always schedule my vacation to come home in the Spring to get in on the fishing. As the plane would approach Nashville it would come in over J Percy Priest Lake and as it flared for landing you could see the KY fescue blowing in the breeze as you touched down. Without fail for 21 years it would bring tears to my eyes to see such a beautiful green place after seeing nothing but brown rocks for almost a year. God bless KY...it is a great place.
