Fished back in Long Creek yesterday to see if any crappie were back there yet. Strong current and the lack of baitfish forced us back out toward the main lake where we started spider rigging for suspended fish and started whackin em! Unfortunately the wind got up to 25 mph and forced us off the lake. Water temp at the ramp was 53 degrees and the water had good color to it. However all the rain were getting fri night and saturday will change that for sure. www.jeremycolvinfishing.com

hey jeremy how long do ya think it will take the barren to get back on track or some what after all the rain an cold front thats coming in this weekend i like to fish up brownsford geuss its real nasty up there.
10 ft. deep. Fished both minnows and jigs and combined the two but only got bit on minnows.
man I wish I knew for sure. Looks like another chance of rain tuesday and wednesday next week so I guess it depends on how much we get then as to when it clears up some. I've had some luck catching them on jig/minnow combination on the main lake in muddy water on laydowns but not in the creeks yet. I seen afew fish on the depth finder in the creeks but the majority of fish I have found have been on stumps in the creek channel and suspended over brush in the channels. I will be spider rigging the next couple of weeks until the water warms up a little more to bring the fish up. Water color was pretty good friday morning in browns ford, just a lil dingy but i would say its a mudhole now. Hope this helps out. good luck!
I was thinking about going today. Had some other things come up so I didn't.
Just drove down to Walnut Creek ramp and the water is stained but not "muddy" as I thought it would be.
I didn't drive to Browns Ford but would say it is muddier there.
Would still go but the wind is out of the east and with the cooler temps I'd say they are deep and scattered. Usually that is the case in this situation. I am not set up to spider rig but I'd say that would be the way to go.
I have had good years when the water level is like this but the water temp has to come up.
The only problem is when it gets just about right to fish the corps will pull the cork on it and that kills the fishing here. Such is a flood control lake.
Guess I am in a holding pattern....when it hits it is going to hit! Crappie, turkey, AND mushrooms will all come on at once. That isn't a bad thing but there won't be any sleep and the wife will think I have moved out. Glad I have one that understands.
