Yes, you can use a skimmer on the TM. One or the other mfg - Lowrance or H'bird - comes out of the box convertable. Think it's Lowrance. The other, you can get an adapter. BPS, Cabellas etc sells a universal adapter, but you can get an adapter from Lowrance and H'bird. I prolly got 3 or 4 in my shop somewhere. Might be persuaded by a Buffet to go and look for it. :)

Lowrance/Eagle Bracket for Mounting to Trolling Motor
Not too sure which one you might need if you have a H'bird. Prolly best to consult with H'bird.
Humminbird Trolling Motor Adapter Bracket
But...guess this one is for the newer styled H'birds.

Cabela's: Rig Rite Trolling Motor Transducer Mount+
Think I've got one of these and at least a lowrance one in the first link above.

Thanks WB. I have an Eagle Magna III unit. It's probably 10 years old and outdated, but I like it. I have found a "skimmer" transom type transducer on ebay that will work with my unit, I just didn't know if I would be able to use it on the trolling motor. I guess I will just use my old bracket to mount it with.
You can, but the problem is that they break more easily than the puck style.
Feelay is right....with the skimmer, there's more moving parts exposed. Not sure if you'll be able to find a puck style for the Magna III though. You could get a transducer guard, but by the time you spend the money on the ducer, the adpter and the guard, you prolly could get real close to a brand new low end unit. It's a catch $22 + shipping and tax. :)
