Can I use the existing wire that is run to the front of my 2000 Tracker Pro Team 175, or do I have to rewire with #6. Can't find the size on the wire, but it looks to be #8

What size breaker does the Power Drive recommend? 40A or less you can probably go with what you have.
Catfan it calls for a 60 amp. breaker and max draw is 50
You'll need to go with 6 AWG and your 60A breaker to use the TM on high speeds.
TM wiring is a little different than conventional wiring.
For a normal lighting circuit, you'd figure the current draw, choose wire that would handle it, and then install an appropriate circuit protector for that wire size. You can go with a smaller breaker or fuse, but you can't go larger because of the fire risk.
For a TM circuit, due to the way the motor draws current, you need a 60A breaker to avoid tripping at high power levels. The TM would work with smaller wire, but because of the breaker required, you have to upsize the wire to allow it to be protected by the larger breaker.
Thanks Catfan. That is good info.
Just remember that with power drive it stays on all the time so it is drawing power out of your battery. I installed the 60 amp breaker and a switch on the console so I can cut the power when I'm not using the boat.
