Jig Eyes...Stick On?

I thought I would ask the pros another question. Been pouring lots of jig heads (1/32 to 1/8). Got it down, as well as the powder painting. Got about 500 under my belt. Next question, what about eyes? I searched past threads and read a lot about painting them on. What are you guys experiences with the stick on eyes? Do they come off with the first fish? Do I need eyes. Not sure I want to start painting and clear coating quite yet...maybe next winter. Whats my best bet for quick eyes? Stick on or none? Thanks for all the advice.

Painting eyes take very little time at all. All you need is some paint and something like the head of a nail or a drill bit in the size you want. Dip the tool of choice in paint, dot the head, add a pupil, and put a little Hard As Nails on it. I dont have much experiance in stick on eyes. When it comes to wether or not you need eyes its all preferance. Just do what you think will catch more fish, and it will.

i use both myself...i prefer the paint on eyes myself..

So what kind of paint are y'all using for eyes? Anything that would be available at a walmart or lowes? I think the hards as nails is carried by walmart.

for the eyes i use fingernail polish. And i use the brush that comes with it. And I dabit on let it dry and then do the pupils ....then i use the CS clear coat on the whole head

Whatever eye you use, you have to coat with something to help hold it on. Hard as Nails is good. When using the stick on eyes I dip my heads in Lure coat, hang them up and let them dry. Sometimes a drip will be on the nose; you have to wipe this off while it is still wet if you want to. I usually just let it go and fish it that way with the drip on the nose; doesn't matter to the fish.

eyes are for the fisherman, crappie dont care.

3 D eyes are so cheap now – lot easier then painting – and you can’t paint holographic.

If you are tying bait patterns – use eyes. If you are tying attracting patterns or terrestrial patterns – it’s a coin toss. Can’t hurt to hedge your bet………

I use model paints and notice that someof it softens fast when hit with the Sally. One brush stroke is all you get so I make it count. Lots of colors in small containers.

I don't matter but it don't hurt either. If you are trying to do a work of art make it pretty with eyes. If you are going to stock the freezer don't waste your time. Making it is fun but fishing it is more fun .
