Truth or Lie.. You tell me you.. crappie story
So I am going to tell you my crappie fishing story from this weekend,, The short version and you tell me is the truth or a lie.
I went to Grenada Lake last weekend (you seen the pics) and I fished about 1/2 a day. I caught several crappie but they were not big fish a few might have been legal but I released all. I talked with several other boats and watched them fish and they had very few fish as well and I didn't see a single fish that was over 1.5 pounds.
So I quit fishing and went to the store to get a barbecue sandwich. Parked by another boat there. Guy gets out really friendly and seemed to be a in a great mood. He had home cut off the bank cane poles and a homemade trolling rack and trolling motor I am going to guess a 1960's model and the boat had more additional welding than factory welding. Now these cane poles were big as my wrist on the handle end and had reels of various types strapped on with coat hanger wire. The tips were big as my thumb and had guides electrical taped up them. I grew up poor guys and still have pretty conservative spending practices so I do not look down on anyone for cutting corners on fishing gear but let's just say I was not trying to drag any crappie fishing info from this guy. But I did say how you doing today bud... He says great .. caught my first limit of crappie .. done it in just about 2 hours..
Needless to say I am speechless.. so all I can muster is a mumbling.. "can I see them?"
My new friend flips the lid off a cooler and there they are still flopping around and fresh as can be.... This guy is stoked so he goes on the tell me exactly where and how deep he caught them and a play by play of how they were biting really hard..
Well I drove the 2 hour drive home and never stopped thinking the $35k+ I was pulling behind my truck and the gear that had smoked me...
True or Lie???
