KY Lake trip

I am new to the site and have made one trip to Ky lake last spring. Me and my wife came down in early April last year, had a great time. but didn't catch the amount of fish we would of liked (10 to 15 per day), the ones we did catch was very nice fish. We stayed at Moores resort and fished in around the creek there. Was wanting to see what everyone thought of the area and would we be better off going on to blood river or another area.
Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. We are planning on coming down the first week of April.

I stay at Big Bear all season & I catch fish. With that said... Blood is hard to beat. Big Sandy's even better.

How far is big sandy from blood river ?

FYI .... Big Sandy is in Tenn, and requires a Tenn license. Blood River is in KY, requires a KY license, as it is not part of the reciprocal agreement waters between Ky & Tn. Distance from Blood River to Big Sandy is relative, depending on whether you go by boat or road, and which route you take, as well as where on Blood you start & where on Big Sandy you end.

I'd say if you caught 10 - 15 fish per day on your 1st trip ever, you didn't do too bad.
I fish the northern area also. I usually camp across the lake from Big Bear on the LBL but frequently we cross the lake and fish the Big Bear along with other areas. We do usually catch limits most days (we don't always keep limits) but we've been fishing that end of the lake for years.
Certainly explore and try new areas but sometimes repeated trips to the same area will allow you to gain a little more knowledge each year you visit the area.
Years ago we also used to fish farther south, we did pretty good there also but again we did our best after multiple trips to the area.
