Beaver Hair Jigs
Anyone ever use Beaver hair for tying jigs. I just happened to remember that I had cured and tanned a couple of beaver hides last year and used only one to make me a hat. I was wanting to tie some crawfish pattern jigs and the reddish brown hair is just what I wanted. Any of U guys ever used Beaver for jigs. If so how did U like it.:D

Fly tyers use every kind of hair/fur that it out there. Nothing get off that hook so sure it should work some way. Sice I don't know how long the hair is you may need to zonker it or cut it off the skin and dub it.

Here is a link to a thread on the forum that has a picture of what some one did with Beaver. Use the search at the top and maybe more will come up. Know that Flatfish Has a good one with beaver as we exchanged jigs and I got one of his beaver jigs. But give this a try for starters. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/jig-t...-hair-jig.html

Skip is right with cutting some zonkers and then tying the jigs. It's fun to tie with some different fur as they have been using Beaver on flies for a long time. ScottV had posted a pic of a jig he tied with a zonker he cut from some I sent him and the jig looked very good. I got busy so the Beaver got put away until I get more ideas about using it :).
Good luck and post a pic of the jig you come up with.
