Greers Ferry lake
Heading to Greers Ferry in mid April, been there twice but never really got onto the slabs, picked up a few but seemed to be accidental because I could only catch one or two where I thought should have been many. I usually fish Mississippi river backwaters at home (water less than 15 ft deep and usually stained/dirty). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I plan on spending my time in the Middle fork and Devils fork areas. I do enjoy reading many of the posts on this forum while the snow piles up and the wind howls here. Have to keep reminding myself that someday I will see open water again. Thanks to all who post pics of great catches and let us frozen in dream of the day we can get out again.:)

All the way from Iowa to fish Greers? wow I have been known to make the trip to South Dakota to shoot pheasants so I guess that makes us even :) Hard to give advice right now for April especially on Greers and I am not much of a fisherman by no means. I did catch some crappie in April last year on the main lake while I bass fishing which kinda confused me cause I thought they would be all up the creeks spawning, guess it just goes to show that they spawn all over the lake or maybe a better argument is that they all don't spawn at once.
The lake is about 7 ft low right now. I hope we get a bunch of rain before you come but if we don't be careful going up the middle fork there is stumps up there right now like you wouldn't believe. You can look up on the internet before you come and see the lake levels or holler on here and I'm sure someone will tell you. Don't know when it was that you were here but it is the lowest it has been in a few years. The guys that I talk to that fish up there say we could really use some rain its a clear lake but right now it is crystal clear. Let us know how you do in April.
