I have heard as a rule of thumb the amp draw on trolling motors is around 1 amp per lb. of thrust for 12v systems. Does that mean if you have a good battery rated at 125 amp-hr that a 45 lb thrust TM will go full out for over 2 and 1/2 hours running continuously?
No because once a deep cycle battery gets down to about 50% it is pretty well useless.

There is no relationship between thrust and power, only assumptions.
One HP is 750 watts. For example, if a trolling motor consumes 20 Amps at 24VDC to generate 50 lbs of thrust it consumes 480 watts in the process (Amps x Volts = Watts or AxV=P).
Remember, thrust is only a static measurement. Once you start moving, you get into the momentum theory. ha
