My buddy is getting a new boat. The seller offered to throw in some LED blacklights in the rub rail for free. Reason being, he hasn't done this particular job before and wants the experience. At least that's the sale's pitch.
Buddy isn't sure what he might be getting. Has anybody done this and have photos to share?
I have green led lights under my rub rail on both sides of my 20 foot pontoon and in front for night fishing. i got them from wildcatlighing.com. i love them. used to fish with bright white lights. this is much calmer, but effective /. also the yellow bug leds they carry in strips i have around the inside of my boat walkways and such--not a bug near them, like the old yellow porch lights, bugproof. i have pictures on the state of florida before i put the boat in the water, that depicts the amount of light they put out which is awesome. i believe its under my crappiegirl1 name and leds go on after thanksgiving thread. if you do not find it or have other questions feel free to pm me
I've been looking at those for over two years now. If I were your friend and he does a lot of night fishing, I would jump on it! I fish the night with strictly black lights. I use clear blue fluorescent line and the black light lights the line up along with any fluorescent bobber. It easier to see the line under a black light at night than any Hi Vis line will show up in midday! He will not be sorry, not to mention, looking "Cool" while boating at night.
I don't use any lights in the water to attract fish, I feel the black light helps me to maintain a more stealthy approach. I had six white LED's on the inside of my boat that are actually too bright to leave on while fishing, but, are excellent when I need to move about the boat to avoid stepping around and not tripping over something. I do keep an adjust LED on the bill of my cap for tieing purposes. I also use a portable snake style LED that I bought from Dollar General for $10. I also carry an aluminum shroud clamp light that is common and use a rough service 12 volt bulb. I have 4 regular 120 volt outlets wired to my battery and just plug it in like I would do at home when using a regular 120 volt light bulb. This allows me to not have to mess with clamps for connecting to the battery.
Bottom line is, if this dealer wants to GIVE him the lighted rub rail, LET HIM! He'll love it!
The first time i seen those was at a night bass tournyment, the guy had done them by following instructions on a thred at bassboatcentral.com . he had 3 feet of them spaced an inch apart on both sides of the bow and stern, you have to take the rub rail out and drill small holes an inch apart. they were awesome at night.............Granite

Crappiegirl, those wildcatlights got me. I might have to add that to my boat.
20 foot center console basstracker pontoon. green led "underneath" the rub rail not inset into it. "wildcatlighing.com" is where i got this and its "BRIGHT"

Yep, Crappiegirl1. Those appeal to me. Just bumped them up on my list. Hope to have something in time for night fishing this summer.
