Qestion about placement
I have 3 porcupine crappie attractors. I know of flat that has a point on it and the depth of the flat is 17 ft., the attractors are 10 ft in diameter. The river channel cuts into the point and is 25 ft deep. Should I put them on top of the point or on the way down or at the botton. thanks Lane:)

Would personally cheat and go 2 at the 1st break depending on how tall they are, and 1 at the bottom to cover more early into late spring and late fall possibilities, is current/ wave action a consideration for the shallower ones? Assuming largely for crappies...probabily some "by- catch", too...

I use stainless wire attached the the ball in 2 places and run screws all around the ball that is glued together to make sure it never comes apart.
I have placed about 20 of these around my favorite lake and takes about a year before there really good. Just never on a point off a flat. I,m a crappie nut. There 10 ft in diameter and so far i,m pleased with the results.

Forgot to say the stailess wire is attached to to large cinder brickes so they can,t be moved by currect or wave action

You should get quite a bit of action on the point. I love brush on top but agree it's good to have some brush on the bottom and if possible halfway. This lets crappie stay in the area and move up and down depending on their mood and time of year. Russ Bailey has a good video showing guys fishing these porcupine on Midwest Crappie. It might be worth a look.
I prefer brush because of feel but PVC will last 100 years. The point will make it easier to find as well.

The ideal situation is as you said, shallow to deep, 5- 10 in a line or double line to act as a "staircase" or "ladder" effect; that way no matter what the season, or the mood of the fish, chances are somewhere in/ on that cover there`s gonna be fish; now gett`n `em to BITE, well, good luck, that`s the hard part sometimes. But just finding them is a large part of the whole deal to begin with...
