Do you fellas have insurance on your fishing boat? The boats paid for and I'm wondering if I need to continue the insurance on it and just wondering what y'all think? Trying to save a little money but don't want to be stupid about it, thanks.

Boat insurance is cheap, I'd keep it. If you accidently knock the the foot off your motor, that's 800 to 1800 or if someone likes it more than you do, you're out whatever amount it's worth.
If you fish a lot of places that you may hit something, I would keep it. If your worried more about someone stealing it then I would check your homeowners policy it may be covered under that.
It also protects you if you hit someone on the lake. It pays for their repairs, otherwise you have to pay out of your pocket to fix there boat or dock or whatever. That could get real expensive quick paying for somebody's bass boat. I would talk to your agent and customize it to what you need for protection. Overall boat insurance is pretty cheap.
Who do ya'll have boat insurance with? Any recommendations? Thanks.
the same one that has your truck insuranse
Get all your insurance (Home, Auto, Boat) from the same company to get better discounts. Shop around.
Ask Lightwire how much he is glad he had insurance on the Etec! Yes, insurance is very important unless you have plenty of $$ to fix whatever whenever. I didn't get mine thru the same company, but they did offer it. Mine is thru Progressive. Very good coverage with very good price tag. Can pay in one annual installment instead of another monthly bill which saves $$ too. Mine is about $250 per year. You can shop them on line to compare them to any others you check with to see what is best for you.
let me tell you from first hand experience, keep insurance on your boat. i dont know how ga. is but s.c. is like this. your towing your boat and your in a one car accident lets say, a tree falls across the road your truck is totaled and the boat has damage also. you might think that your vehicle policy would cover what ever your towing (boat) thats what i thought but not here. i was told the law used to read that way but not now. if you got any doubts i would set down with my agent and ask how it works in your state. thats what i would do.:)
Bought a new River Hawk B-60 many years ago. Bought insurance (very cheap) on Thursday before leaving to fish on Friday. Fished hard all weekend with no problems. After leaving the water on Sunday and going down an I-95 off ramp, my motor came off the boat. Looked to my left while making the turn and the moter skidded past me on the concrete. Skinned up the moter, ruined the prop and skinned the foot paper thin. Was able to keep fishing with the extra prop I had. Insurance covered it all. Total bill $1,298.00. The insurance was $112.00 per year. Boat insurance is dirt cheap if you add it on with all your other insurance with the same company. The best money I ever spent.
