I have installed a couple of them, they are not to Bad to install, but if you don't do it right, it's easy to mess it up, a good high quality marine epoxy is a must for intalling to a alluminum boat, for best results the paint needs to be removed where it is going. Is it a 3m backed keel guard or is it the super tough super durable hamby keel protector, there is a really big difference as to how to install the two. The hamby will outlast and is way more durable than the adhesive backed keel guards. I have always used the hamby, but included in the other differences the hamby is way more expensive than the adhesive backed keel guards.
I've installed one on a glass boat, and it's an easy install, and so far works good. Don't know about one on a metal boat---hamby might be better.

This is a picture of the hamby keel protector installed on my boat, They are the best keel protector that is in production today. You will pay more for it, but you get what you pay for.
Thumbs up for the Hamby. I had one installed on my boat probably gettin close to 10 yrs. ago. It looks as good now as when I got it. Very durable product. Had mine installed by Bass Annie (901)785-7409 in Memphis.
Called Hamby and they said they did not recommend it for a metal boat.
