Full speed ahead ... Motorguide trouble!!

I have a 24v Great White hand steer and yesterday I lost all control of my speed ... right now it is full speed ahead or off. My model has a 3 position toggle to select for full speed, off or speed controlled by twisting the handle. Yesterday, in the middle of fishing (and in the middle of a crowd of course), I twisted the throttle and the dang thing ran up to full speed and wouldn't back off. My first thought is that the rheostat connected to the twist throttle went bad but before I started tearing into things I was hoping to get some other opinions.

Could be the rheostat or the windings in the motor. Could be that your full speed switch shorted.

The switch still works in the off position but I hadn't thought that the two terminals could have shorted. I'll look into that if the rheostat doesn't pan out. Thanks!!

Sounds like the board went out in it. Had one to do the same thing. I hope it's a digital. Not sure you can readily find any parts for the older analog models.

Yeah I just swapped out the potentiometer to no avail. Thanks for the info, I'll call tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's digital, I bought it from a friend about 2 years ago.

Looks like they have a digital conversion kit for the circuit board.

Thanks Dan ... the more I learned the more discouraged I was getting. I saw the note about the service bulletin but couldn't track it down. I guess it's not all bad news. Going out tomorrow while the TM is in the shop, gonna let the wind do the work.
