Scored big with pvc, now the question

Went to a local utilities contractor and scored about a half a spool of the 1.5 pvc they use to pull utility lines through. Guy was nice enough to give it to me just to get it off his yard. I cut into 4 - 5 foot section. I have well over 500 feet.

The question I have is can I just put concrete into a bucket and push the pipe down into the crete, let it set for 24 - 48 hours and then plant them? I'm a bit concerned that the quick crete will not grip the pipe without a nail, screw or something like that in it. The walls are pretty thick or I'd just shoot a drywall screw into them and not ask the question.

Any responses would be appreciated.

Try making a "holder" out of wood that the PVC fits into snuggly and drill thru it, use coat hangers (or something similar) to wire it together, as you pour in the cement, angle them to cover as much area as possible; you may have to wedge something inside them to ensure they stay in place as the cement sets...

You can also drill about a half inch hole all the way through the pipe a couple inches from the pipe and the crete will seep in and prevent the pipe from pulling out. Good luck!

liking that idea.....simple and efficient, I think

I used 2'' drywall screws and put about 1/2'' in the pvc. Holds well and quick.

drill small holes and run an old coat hanger thru a couple times and pour the crete in. should hold it imo.

The cement will hold PVC great without the need of any screws or additional fasteners. We stick the pieces right in the wet cement and shake up and down to vibrate cement. Sticks like snot, with 1000's made and counting, no problems with coming out.

Drywall screw... best 1 cent you will ever spend...

I've drilled a hole about 1 1/2" in diameter on both sides. The concrete runs thru and holds fine. I rund smaller PVC thru one side and out the other where it has branches 3' on both sides. I don't like that I can feel it as well as wood. I did hear it was a good idea to rough up the outside of the PVC because it would attract algae that much quicker.
