electronics question
Looking to get a different boat, would like to put down imaging sonar up front and a 3 color flasher in the dash. I would also put a sonar/gps on the dash. Is there any reason to run a sonar/gps up front. Would have Terrova i pilot on the bow. Is it feasible to run the electronics on two 9 amp batteries in series and would they last all day......Granite:confused:

As far as a GPS up front, it is invaluable when trying to find or stay on a brushpile.
I'm not sure what you mean by 9 amp batteries. Do you mean 9 amp-hour batteries? A color unit will draw about 1.5A, so assume 4.5A for the 3 units, which means two 9AH batteries would only run the electronics for 4 hours at best.
Putting batteries in series adds the voltages, so if you want a series combination you'd use 6V batteries.

They would be two 9 amp hour 12 volt batteries tat are used in emergency lighting systems. rigged so they would be 18 amps?

With two 12V batteries, they'd need to be in parallel to give you 12V, not series. Those two together give you about 18AH would probably run your electronics for about 4 hours at the most.

Thank you catfan, going to have to rethink what i will do...........Granite
