My Lowrance 102Xc unit loses a bottom signal in water over 60 feet deep. Anybody know if this would be due to a problem with the transducer (transom mounted) or a deficiency in the unit itself?

Do you run auto sensitivity? Sometimes it requires higher settings for deeper water.
Is the transducer parallel to the surface of the water?
Are any other sonars running at the same time?
I do run the auto sensitivity. Could possibly be part of the problem. The transducer is parallel to the water surface and there are no other sonars running at the same time.
also try bring your ping speed up to 75. also make sure it's not kick up to far. Do you have in auto depth, if so and still having trouble try running in manual depth. (set your range).
Thanks for the input. I'll have to give those things a try.
Clean your transducer with soap and water while you are trying things. Helps to keep the oil film off the Xducer.
