Jig questions, Chenielle and painted eyes.

This is a two question post, First does anyone in south Ark. and North La. fish jigs with the chenielle bodies. I just haven't seen anyone fishing them on My home lake D'Arbonne. Second do eyes painted on colored jig heads make a real difference, and if so what cloor eyes are used on what color jig heads.:confused:

Boone I fish Darbonne and use alot of chenille bodies. As for eyes, I prefer 3D.

lol the all famous eye question...Hey boone try a search this will bring alot of stuff up for it..I think this post we made about eyes i think 2mths ago went on for weeks...If i remember it came down as a preference thing.

Lots of guys fish chenille body jigs, but what kind of chenille as there are many.

Color of the head I do believe can make a difference some times. Sometimes I don't think it matters if it's even painted.

Eyes, color just what goes well, but mostly the pupal is black and the rest is Yellow, red or white for the most part.

I know a guy that fishes there a lot and uses his own ties and some have chennile. He catches a lot of fish there too.

Thanks guys, I just tied a few jigs with some chenielle bodies. Tried a few different colors and they look pretty good for me. I am new at this jig making thing. It helps to pass the time nowadays. Can't do much else but fish a little and tie jigs when I am not in my gun shop. Got a couple of guns to blue right now, but the Crappie are my first priority at the time. This stuff is addictive, Slabs that is.

we do make up a lot of Chanel body jigs. Every year it depends on what the crappie fishermen want like skip said there is a lot of varieties I prefer painted eyes on all my jig heads rather than 3-D I guess I definitely like the hobby that well that I am old fashion and it takes skill to paint them. Which I'm very proud of I think the eyes on jigs do have a bearing if the water is clear to the fish feeding.

I use drill bits for eyes. Black pupil yellow background or black pupil red background.

My jig tying bench is surrounded with cards of chenille-which I use about 50% in tying jigs -you can create some very lifelike shad bodies with chenille.
