I just gave the Bobby Garland Slab Slay'R a try for the first time casting on 1/16 and 1/8 jig heads.
Really like the lure, except for one problem. No matter how I cast it the jig spins in the air so much it twist my line bad. (don't have the same kind of problem with tubes and curly tails)
Curious if anyone has the same problem or better yet a solution.

I got some, but have only used them vertical jigging. Did catch a few, mostly shorts. I don't know why they would spin like that, when casting.

If it should prove to be the bait that's causing the spin .... one thing you can do, and still use that bait, is to cast sidearm. You can also load up your rod, like you were going to shoot a dock, and slingshot cast with it ... if you're not trying to cast a great long distance.
If all else fails .... have two or three rods loaded with the same bait, and when one starts getting too twisted up, then cut the bait off & pull off about 10-15yds of line & let it drag in the water while you continue to cast with one of the other rods. The forward motion of the boat will pull the twists out. Just be sure that you have the big motor trimmed up, or have it in gear ... so the line doesn't get caught in the prop !!

The scent wigglers are design to be fished as a trailer with other baits but mainly with the Bobby Garland Minnow Mind'r so that could be your problem. They are great baits!!Quote:

Great tip about letting twisted line out behind the boat, been doing it for years and it will fix most twist problems.

I just ordered some Minnow Mind'r, Scent Wiggl'r, Baby Shad and Mo Glo jig heads from Gene Larew (Bobby Garland). I think these baits look phenominal. I love the Crave scent used in the wiggl'r. Same as used in many of Larew's Bass baits.
