Im soon to be in the market for a new TM battery. I ran walmart everstart in my procraft and had good luck with them. But my buddy runs an optima red top that he ran in his truck for a few year before he sent it off to cash for clunkers. He has had great luck with the optima red top. So what brand of battery have you had good luck with?
Always ran the Walmart 29 series Marine batts but since they no longer warrant them here I bought a series 27 Interstate Marine and have been trolling practically all day using that one battery and not killing it (longlining). I'll be looking for a second Interstate when my last Wally battery dies.;)
I know those optima batteries are high priced. But on one trip to lake conway my buddy forgot to secure it down and when we got to the ramp it had flipped over on the post and arched against the aluminm boat and melted down the battery post to almost nothing. We hooked it up and troilled around conway for about 2 hours. Is there a big difference in the time you can troll with a 27 series vs 31 series?

I would say there's enough difference for the extra money spent, but cannot tell you what that is right off. Just have to take a look to see unless someone else that jumps in has checked the capacities and reserves on the different series of batteries. It would be hard for me to buy Optimas spending that much money for a single battery. First off, I've never owned one, but I have gotten great service from regular acid filled Marine batteries. Meaning close to 5 years per battery and I have a hard time thinking I'd get twice that from an Optima battery. I'm sure theyre good batteries, I'm just doubting if theyre THAT good.:o
Trojan batteries are the best I have ever used, that is what I use and they last me about four years between replacements, they are about the only battery I have seen that you can fish for two days solid for eight hours a day and still have Charge left over.
Hey slabsntaters where do you get them at? I've never heard of those, whats the going rate on them? Do you know if they have a warranty?Quote:

I get them from Robert wilcox over at Conway tire and battery, they are about 120.00 each but they don't have to be replaced but every four years, and they have a awesome warranty. I use the 225 series, they are by far the best I have found, I can fish bass tournaments for two days on one charge. They are a very sound Investment.Quote:
