Swift water Crappie feshin trip in Mississippi.
Well, the trip actually started yesterday. I texted an expert on this Swift Water technique (better known as spillway feshin) yesterday to see ifn he wanted to get out of the house a while. Here's the answer I got.
"Dadgumit. Ive go company coming to spend the night. Gotta pass but bad wish I could. U gonna go by yourself?"
"I reckon so. Send me some coordinates of where to fesh, how deep and what color. "
"North side. Turn at the head and go sown into the parking lot towards the fish cleaning station. There is a bright green metal swing. Park there and fish 4.83 yards west (downstream) of that swing. 3 foot 1.2375 inches deep with two 1/16 oz jigs. Black/white and orange/chartreuse both work. Looking at the water the fish are in 3 spots. 2 o'clock 8 yards out. 1 o'clock 15.3 yards out and between 10 and 1 o'clock 27.1 yards out."
"Got it. In other werds jus any where round the swang set?"
"Bump the cork and let settle to the beat of lady gaga played with a reggae beat or to the jazz version of the theme to rocky 4."
"Like this: Bump......bump bump bump,......bump.......bump bump buuuuummmmp?"
"Yea, that's it, you gots the rhythm. But I'm serious about the position of the fish and the 4 yards west. That's the hot spot. U will catch fish anywhere and will do ok anywhere in the vicinity, but go directly to the 5 yards west if it's open."
"K. I'm really still in the Christmas spirit. Reckon the "Little Drummer Boy" Bah rump a ba bum will Werk?"
"C'mon minner. Im Serious, steady retrieve or letting sit does not work. Bout a bump every 1 to 1.5 second seems to work best for me. Some work it constantly, but it's more difficult for me to detect the hit doing that."
"Ok ok I got it."
So now I gots my game plan all I got to do it get there early.
