I fish Cave Run alot. I've asked several questions on here bout Cave Run I've gave fishing reports and nobody has responded. I think most of the ppl on here live in the western part of the state or are out of staters. I live in Eastern KY near Prestonsburg.
I am a Eastern,live in Staffordsville.

i fish cave run, grayson and yatesville.
lets share some info on these lakes
or get together and catchum
Wouldn't mind learning more about some of the Eastern lakes. Too far to go West and T-ville is usually a dry run for me. Green River gives up a lot of fish but they are on the short side.
I fish cave run a decent bit. Was just up there two days ago but only to do some scouting while lake is down. Stopped by corp office to ask about putting some brush out and sounds like its kinda up to corp of engineers and not encouraged, but they are going to put some brush out themselves but would really be nice for us to be able to place piles out while lake is down, and put brush in some of the creeks/bays but in deep enough water when its raised it wont affect swimmers etc, that was their main worrry for not allowing shallow brush etc. Theres llots of standing timber and good spots but sweetening them up qouldnt hurt anything I wouldnt think. They put christmas trees in shallow water (some are dry in scotts creek now) so how does us putting/adding brush in shallow water or even deep water if they would allow for that matter differ. Oh well, ill quit whining, can't complain, blessed to have it near and overall its a nice lake and cant beat the scenery, I enjoy the cave but it can be a ttuff nut to crack sometimes despite some good fishing available.
Started fishing Cave Run when it opened. Fished it quite a bit, back in the day. Haven't been in a few years. Never fished any of the other Eastern lakes, though. Hard for any lake to compete with KY/Barkley Lakes ... not to mention Green River Lake, Nolin, Barren, & Rough River Lake being in the same general area.

I fished Cave Run a lot thirty years ago, but I had children in school involved in sports so I sold boat, cabin, Ect. But last year I got another boat and my son is thirty now and loves to fish, we fished Dewey, Paintsville, and Car Fork. Been thinking about Cave Run and Yatesville for this spring. Just found this site and thought it be nice to communicate with fellow fisherman while it's snowing and I cant go fishing.
I live bout 5 minutes from Dewey. Not very many big Crappie in there now like they used to be. I remember 15 years ago you could catch them 14-18 inches. I have been fishing Cave Run alot the past couple of Springs. I'm going to try Yatesville I hear they are catching some good crappie there.
I live about 20 minutes from Dewey, we cought a few good crappie and a lot of small ones this year, also got a few good blue gill at Paintsville. A young man that works with me cought some great Walleye there, I would not have believed it except he had pictures and he gave me a 4 pounder and he caught some that were three times that big.
