Electric Carving Knives (and Merry Christmas to all!!!!)
Quite a while back there was some discussion about electric slicing knives. Since it was time to update mine, I have done a bit of research and thought I'd share the info I uncovered.
We have used B&D since they were available from Wally World for $9.98. We could usually get several years out of them, but they do not sell them anymore. They sell another brand for about $ 18.00 or so.
After an online search on Shopzilla, I found a Proctor Silex Easy Slice Electric Knife from Meijer Dept Store for $9.99. Shipping for two units was about $5.00. A "no questions asked", One Year 100%,replacement policy is available for $2.99 per each unit.
Over the years we used Proctor Silex with very good results. They and the B&D's outlasted Mr. Twister. The Twisters motors/gears held up fairly well, but the copper switch contact would wear out first.
Home Depot has an Electric Knife, I believe it's a Continental Brand, for similar cost. Never have tried one of these.
I found some others on other web searches, as low as 5.99, but they were refurbs.
For 10-15 bucks each, I believe it's better to get two (Protor Silex) instead of one expensive(Rapala or other name brand). In our experience, odds are two units will outlast one expensive unit.
