did small batch tonight
used 2 new molds i had ordered few weeks back.i used the microwave my dad picked up for me at a yardsale for cheap.thing worked like a charm, and made cooking up the plastic so much quicker!i used half a canary yellow crayon for coloring.i smooshed the crayon to bits and added it to the plastic.i remember reading somewhere doin that helps it mix with the plastic quicker.the color is a darker yellow.i thought it was gonna look a little orange because the crayon looked like that  oh well yellow is a good color none the less.here's some pics, click on the thumbnails to see a bigger picture December 11, 2010 new baits! | Facebook :D

that was really surprising. On the color bxn you wouldn't think that it would turn that dark get more looks like motor oil . So I'm wondering if all the crayons would come out different in the plastic . I know when I use oil paints the type that you use to paint a picture with they come out true to the color of especially white it definitely comes out more true to the white then what you can buy normally I have not tried too many other colors yet. I'm wanting to try quite a few .

my last batch i did some red and used similar oil paints my dad has and turned out the same as the paint.next batch i do im gonna use some oil based paints again and get my bright orange i been wanting.also, instead of using a pyrex glass container to heat the plastic i used a coffee mug,and worked just as good.i used a tiny metal measuring cup to pour.

Nice looking baits, are those full rounded??? Cut a little higher for longer tails they'd look just like beetle spin bodies
-
no they aren't fully rounded, there's a flat side, but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the fish.yah they pretty much are a version of beatle spin bodies, but not exactly the same.i like to just throw em on an aberdeen style long shank hook without weight mostly.i don't have any jigheads that would fit them.probly need something with a long hook.would be awesome to have 1/64s with long enough shank hooks.and i presume you are talking about the longer 1.25" ones?the smaller 1" ones i can fit on 1/64 heads i got.just need to clip the tip of the bait body a little.anyways today i went to hospital for chemo and a scan.i go to childrens clinic because im dealin with a childhood cancer even tho im 29.anyways i found the perfect colored bright orange crayon and brought it home with me for another small batch of the correct orange color i want :D!

those look pretty good.....let us know how the new crayon works

They look like something the fish will eat.

i just ordered some silicon putty.very soon im goin to try making my own molds for a change.can't wait!it sounds pretty easy to do.probly gonna end up doin a single cavity first.it will be easy to do it like that without having to duplicate the "master".i could just do a bunch of small single cavity molds with the same "master" item.the putty stuff i ordered sets and is fully usable after 25 min it says.
