What are the pros and cons?
I think it's entirely dependent on what part of the country you're fishing in, and which lakes you're fishing in that part of the country.
I see you're from Illinois. Lakemaster has an IA/IL chip that I use when I fish tournaments in NW Iowa. I'm very happy with the amount of detail and accuracy, and I also appreciate the Humminbird-exclusive chart customization features that Lakemaster provides.
In places not covered by Lakemaster, I use Navionics chips....most recently when I spent a week on Table Rock fishing deep bass and crappies this summer.
I have navionice chip in one depth finder and lake insight on the other, I like both, easy to read, and shows lots of detail.
I like the internal maps. Can't loose them.:o:o
I went to BPS and tried the navionics map in one unit and the insight HD map in another, the nav showed me nothing but lake conture, the insight map showed everything on 3 different lakes. If you have a store near by that you can do that also I would suggest you do the same thing.Just my opinon hope it helps.
I cant speak for stripeking...but I believe the Bass Pro I went to had the Premium version running.
Which shows the river channels, I want to get some updated software too, but don't know which one to get either, running junk gold now.
I really don't know, which one they plugged in,I didn't realize there were different ones for navionics except for different areas of the region so I bought a HDS unit with the insight map built in,really showed alot of stuff,I'm like canepole won't have to keep up with any chips.
