I got to use or lose some vacation days and my father-in-law is coming up to fish tomorrow. I know it is going to be windy but anybody got any good updates on the crappie? I been chasing stripers lately and stuck out pulling cranks north of 43 last time. There should still be some current so I was thinking Welfare or Long Lake (Big Lake). What yall think? Wind gonna be out the northwest about 10-15 mph.

welfare, long lake, and 'S" curve area until wind picks up then up river to race track area or other lakes to get out of wind. Thats just me thinking out loud though. Good luck
Well the wind was rough but we gave it a try anyway. We pulling cranks in the welfare hole, west of the bridge, east of the bridge, and pulled in long lake (big lake) with only one catfish to show for it. On top of that... we left and went to Fannin landing to try the stripers and couldn't get them to hit either. Never should have put in there with that west wind... whew... Was glad just to get the boat back on the trailer. Still more fun than working!!!

Steve and I are gonna try the spider rigging tomorrow. We're going to Kemper Lake, just east of Dekalb, and try for some of those big black crappie they have. I've got us some 1/8 oz ammo tied up. We'll be fishing around 17 ft deep.
